Having
a tropical maritime climate with few incursions of polar air
during the winter, The Bahamas generally experience neither frost,
snow, sleet, hail, nor extremes of temperature. Temperatures
rarely drop below 16ºC or rise above 32ºC
thanks to the Gulf Stream’s clear warm waters and balmy
southeastern trade winds. There are occasional rainfalls during
the summer but brief.
Winter
temperatures seldom fall much below 60° F/15° C and usually reach
about 75° F/24° C in the afternoon.
In summer, temperatures usually fall to 78° F/25° C or
less at night and rise to around 90° F/32° C during
the day.
Sea surface temperatures normally vary between 74° F/23° C
in February and 83° F/28° C in August.
