Streets or Roads:
Crushed rock roads or asphalt surfaced roads are developed in accordance with government specifications and it has a stamp of approval from the Ministry of Development. There are no taxes for road maintenance and it is the responsibility of individual property owners to oversee the condition of their roads through the Property Owners Association (P.O.A).

Water Supply: Each property owner is responsible for obtaining his or her own water supply from an individual well or cistern. It costs B$2,000 for a drilled well, pump, tank, piping and installation and a 2,000 gallon cistern system costs approximatly at B$3,600. Owners may also get water from the municipal system in most areas.

 

Sewage Disposal: It costs approximately $2,000 to install a septic tank system in an average size home.

 

Electricity: Power lines and electricity are presently available in many parts but not all of Bahama Sound Sections.

 

Telecommunication: Telecommunications services and facilities in the Bahamas are on par with the US and Canada. A 100% digital switching system allows direct distance dialling to more than 100 countries.

 

Television: The Broadcasting Corporation of the Bahamas operates ZNS TV with transmitter power of 50,000 watts ERP, which can be viewed on Exuma. Cable television was licensed by the Bahamas government but it is still unavailable. However satellite with personal receivers are excellent.

 

Gas: Bottled gas is available at a current cost of about B$60.00 per hundred pound tank.
